In March our spring concert was the glorious JSB St John Passion in St James's Piccadilly with some excellent soloists including Neil Jenkins as the Evangelist, Michael Bundy as Christ and three soloists (Rowan Pierce, Rosanna Cooper and Nicholas Morton) who are studying at the RCM.
We believe it went went really well and here's a bit of audience feed back ….
"May I ask you to convey my congratulations and appreciation to the choir on its utterly sublime performance of Bach’s St John Passion last evening at St James’s Piccadilly. I have never heard this wonderful work sung with so much musicality, sincerity and commitment, not only by the choir itself, but also by each and every one of the soloists (including the Maid of course).
I count myself fortunate to have noticed the poster in the church a couple of weeks ago completely by chance, and would be glad to sign up to your e newsletter if you have one, to be sure of getting advance notice of your future concerts. As I sing in an amateur choir myself it is especially rewarding to listen to such an accomplished ensemble showing how it should be done.
I hope to have the pleasure of hearing you all again soon. Meanwhile, my thanks and admiration. That music will stay in my head for weeks."
Now that’s the sort of criticism we like! Next up in May is the Mozart Requiem and Haydn’s Maria Theresa Mass.
